Starting at about 78th & SE Stark, visit the unique shops, studios and services. The Garment Factory is always open to visitors, see the latest local artworks there as well. Bipartisan Cafe, the Immortal Larder and Pie and the Country Cat for excellent noshing stops. There are so many more VERY charismatic shops and holistic services you won't be able to get to them all in one month-so drop in every first Friday of the month!
From 10am to 5pm streets will be closed for the festival between NE 42nd to NE 50th. Entertainments will include A bike and pet parade starting at Beaumont Middle School. There WILL BE PRIZES! Get the kiddies and pets costumed and meet at the school at 9:30am! After the parade, the streets will be closed and artisan, crafters and food vendors will line the streets to tempt visitors to many summer enjoyments. The game is played by visiting as many businesses as possible and getting your passport stamped (no purchase required).8 stamps enters you in the general prize drawing and 14 or more enters you in the grand prize drawing. NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
Celebrated every year on the first Thursday of August, National Night Out is designed to heighten community awareness of crime and drug prevention, generate support for local crime prevention programs, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships, and promote emergency preparedness. It's also an opportunity to meet your neighbors, dance in the streets, have a great potluck, and enjoy the evening. The Office of Neighborhood Involvement has compiled a list of National Night Out parties. Check it to find one near you. CENTRAL CITY 2035 The Bureau of Planning and Sustainability and partners are starting a multi-phased project to update the 1988 Central City Plan. Central City 2035 (CC2035) will address the challenges and opportunities in the Central City and ensure it will be a vibrant resource for Portlanders over the next 25 years. Hawthorne Bridge Closures for PDX Bridge Festival Multnomah County will close the Hawthorne Bridge to vehicle and river traffic for a few days in late July and early August for community events celebrating the bridge's centennial. The dates for bridge closures are: CLOSURE DATES: CLOSURE TIMES: Saturday, July 31, 2010 6:00 pm – 12:00 am Sunday, August 1, 2010 12:00 am – 2:00 am Saturday, August 7, 2010 9:00 am – 2:00 pm During these dates and times the bridge's vehicle traffic lanes will be closed and sidewalks will be closed intermittently. DON'T FORGET! THE BROADWAY BRIDGE IS CLOSED TO ALL VEHICLE TRAFFIC FROM JULY 6 THROUGH SEPTEMBER 3RD..
In preparation for track construction the Broadway Bridge will be closed to ALL motor vehicle traffic until the Labor Day weekend in September. Only the south sidewalk will remain open for cyclists and pedestrians, the north sidewalk will be closed.
N Broadway St – 2nd to Broadway Bridge, lane closures: Now thru July 30
Interstate 5 (Pacific Highway) Delta Park – Victory Boulevard to Lombard Street: A contractor is widening I-5 between Victory Boulevard and Lombard Street. The 1.2-mile project includes adding a third lane to southbound I-5, constructing a new southbound entrance ramp bridge at Columbia Boulevard, widening bridges and adding shoulders to northbound I-5. Lane closures on I-5 will only take place during nighttime hours, generally between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Interstate 5 (Pacific Highway) Tualatin River to Willamette River: Work includes widening the Nyberg Rd. off-ramp from I-5 south, adding lanes on I-5 northbound from the Boone Bridge to the Wilsonville Road off-ramp and from I-205 southbound to I-5 southbound to the Elligsen Road off-ramp, and building a new sound wall along I-5 in Tualatin. Lane closures and ramp closures take place primarily on weeknights from 7:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.
The contractor shifted traffic, closing the left lane of the I-205 off-ramp to I-5 south 24 hours a day until August. Motorists should expect congestion and delays on the ramp until mid-August. The speed limit on I-5 southbound has been reduced to 55 mph 24 hours a day for the duration of the project. Abandoned vehicles in the area will immediately be towed.

Interstate 205 Glenn Jackson (Columbia River) Bridge Preservation: A contractor is working on a joint replacement project on the I-205 Glenn Jackson Bridge. Replacing the bridge joints will require closing two lanes at a time in one direction of the I-205 Glenn Jackson Bridge during a maximum of 20 weekends (10 weekends each for I-205 north and south) through September 2010. During the duration of the project, the contractor will close lanes on the bridge weeknights between 7:30 p.m. and 5 a.m.
U.S. 26 (Sunset Highway) Cornell Road to 185th Avenue: Highway widening on U.S. 26 between Cornell Road and 185th Avenue. There will be three lanes in each direction in this section of highway along with cable barrier, widened shoulders and new pavement and striping. Work is scheduled for completion in early 2012.
Betweem Sunday, July 25 and Thursday, July 29, the contractor will be working at night. This will require left lane closures in both directions of U.S. 26 between 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Daytime work is also planned behind barrier with no lane or shoulder closures. Oregon Highway 99E (MLK and Grand)
Viaduct Replacement: A contractor is working on a project to replace the Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Grand Avenue viaducts on Highway 99E. Lane closures on Highway 99E will only take place during nighttime hours. Daytime work hours are 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday, July 26, to Friday, July 30.
Interstate 84 (Columbia River Highway) – I-205 to 181st Avenue Preservation Project: A contractor is paving an eight-mile stretch of I-84 between I-205 and NE 181st Avenue. Work includes upgrading the lights in the tunnels connecting I-84 and I-205, replacing the center barrier and upgrading signs. Lanes will be closed during nighttime hours from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Daytime work will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The contractor will begin striping between NE 207th Avenue NE 102nd Avenue. This work will require closing lanes and ramps on I-84 between 207th Avenue and 102nd Avenue each night from 7:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. Striping work is weather dependent and may be delayed due to wet conditions.

U.S. 26 (Powell Boulevard) Pavement Preservation Project: A contractor is working on a project to pave SE Powell Blvd. between SE 51st Avenue and I-205. Work includes installing two crosswalks at SE 75th Avenue and between SE 57th and SE 58th, improving sidewalk ramps and installing stormwater treatment planters. Paving work will take place during nighttime. Daytime lane closures on S.E. Powell will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. For more information:
